Established in 2006, Made in Brunel is the student led showcase of creativity from Brunel’s designers, engineers and innovators. A series of industry evenings, networking events and workshops develop a strong network of links between students and professionals creating a gateway for graduates into the workplace.
The annual exhibition in June, located in central London, coincides with launch of the Made in Brunel book; a record of the work from Brunel University’s most inspiring thinkers.
As mentioned Made in Brunel is a student run organisation. Earlier this year myself and another student, Jo Barnard, decided to apply to be Managing Directors together. Jo comes from a more technical practical background, studying the BSc course at Brunel; whilst I would consider myself to be a more creative individual due to the BA course I study. Together we are now managing a team of 7 managers, who look after the Book, Brand, Events, Marketing and Website. These managers then have their own core teams, so Made in Brunel really does run like a professional company with each person having their own specific roles.
I believe myself and Jo were selected to head up this years Made in Brunel due to us excelling in our own areas, and that these compliment each other extremely well.
Brunel Design is an extremely well regarded design school in the UK, and with Made in Brunel being the face of this means we hold a lot of responsibility to represent all the final year and Masters students. This year we want to take what is considered a Design Exhibition and Book, and make it a whole lot more than then. Helping the students get the recognition they deserve, and presenting Brunel designers in the best possible light.
We have already kick started this process over the previous weeks, and will be putting regular updates of what has been happening. In the meantime, head over to the Website, Facebook Page or Twitter to see what has been going on.
